Last Tuesday, a combined team of twelve Chroma Technology and 89 North employees attended the 2024 Best Places to Work in Vermont Celebration in Burlington, VT.

This statewide survey and awards program is conducted by Vermont Business Magazine, and is designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Vermont. To be considered for participation, companies had to:

  • have at least 15 full- or part-time permanent employees working in Vermont
  • have a physical operation in Vermont
  • be a publicly or privately held organization
  • be a for-profit, not-for-profit, or a government organization
  • be in business for at least one year at the time of the program registration deadline.

Our firm (which is ranked on a combined basis with Chroma) was ranked #14 in the medium-size business category.  This is the seventh straight year we’ve received this recognition!

As part of the schedule of events, we took advantage of our colleagues from Chroma coming up to Burlington, and we hosted them here for a tour of our facilities. We enjoyed socializing over lunch, and followed this with a talk by Juile Martin on our firm’s history, and a presentation by Tim Ambrose about the history and complexity of our LDI line up of Laser Diode Illuminators, In it, Tim detailed how they are created and how they work.

You can check out pics from the entire event here. For a full list of companies and their rankings, check out this article from VermontBiz. There is also a hard copy of a special VermontBiz edition, with more details about each company including Chroma, in the Bellows Falls main lunchroom.
